10 Best Players Who Played For Both Norwich City And Ipswich Town

Keith Bertschin had a very long career playing with teams like Ipswich Town, Birmingham City, Norwich City, Stoke City, Sunderland, Walsall, Chester City, Aldershot among others. He played a total of 476 games in his entire career. After just one year of kicking off his career with Barnet in 1972, he joined Ipswich Town in 1973.

He was required to wait to make his professional debut for the club. Keith played his first senior game in April 1976 against Arsenal, in which he scored. He played there for 4 years until 1977.

He joined Norwich City in 1981, after spending four seasons with Birmingham City. Keith played 138 matches for the Canaries and scored 38 goals in them. He helped Norwich win promotion in 1981-82.

5. Trevor Putney

Trevor Putney kick-started his professional career with Ipswich Town in 1980. Before that, he was playing for non-league team Brentwood. When he joined Ipswich Town, they were among the biggest teams in English football. He was voted Ipswich Town Player of the Year for 1983-84. Trevor played for Ipswich from 1980 to 1986 but only managed to make 103 appearances due to injuries.

He then joined arch-rivals Norwich City in an exchange deal that saw John Deehan move to Ipswich Town. Injuries did not trouble him with Norwich as much and he ended up enjoying some of the club’s best success. He played there for 3 years and then left for Middlesbrough.

4. John Deehan

The English international played 379 matches in his entire professional career. Out of those 379 matches, John Deehan played 162 for Norwich City. He played as a striker and scored 62 goals for the Canaries over a period of five years from 1981 to 1986. He was voted into Norwich City Hall of Fame by the fans in 2002.

Deehan started his career with Aston Villa and also played for clubs like Man City, West Brom and ended his career at Barnsley but he was best known for his time with Aston Villa and Norwich City.

In the summer of 1986, Deehan joined Ipswich town, leaving Norwich in an exchange deal with Trevor Putney moving to Norwich. He scored a total of 11 goals in 49 games he played for Ipswich Town in two seasons before moving to Man City.
