3) Zinedine Zidane
Zinedine Zidane is a born winner, not only as a player but as a manager as well. There’s no trophy in the world which Zinedine Zidane hasn’t won. As a player, the Frenchman won the World Cup, Champions League, and the Ballon d’Or. As a manager, he became the first and the only manager to win three consecutive UEFA Champions Leagues. In his illustrious career, Zinedine Zidane scored 125 goals in 680 appearances. There is no doubt that he is the top three attacking midfielders of all time.
2) Johan Cruyff
One of the greatest attacking midfielders of all time, the man who revolutionized the game, the brains behind the total football system, Johan Cruyff. Words cannot describe the contributions of this man to football. He helped Barcelona achieve their elite status by winning them a UCL and 4 La Liga titles. The only thing missing in his illustrious career is the World Cup trophy. In his career, he scored 402 goals in 702 games, making him one of the greatest players of the game.
The God of Argentina, Diego Maradona, finds himself atop of the list of the greatest attacking midfielders of all time. Maradona achieved the god-like after he helped Argentina win the World Cup in 1986 which included two of the most prolific goals one could ever score. He was a tactical genius and helped Napoli win Serie A single-handedly. He also played for other clubs as well including Boca Juniors and FC Barcelona. In 590 games he played in his club career, Diego Maradona scored 310 goals which show the attacking prowess he possessed. He is usually labelled as the greatest player of all time along with Pele and with the kind of career he had? It’s a pretty good debate.
