5. Arsenal [1930-1938]

Arsenal was the most dominant force in English football in the 1930s. Herbert Champman’s men preferred to keep things simple, and devastatingly effective. Chapman’s successor George Allison added a more physical edge to the side. Arsenal won the FA Cup in 1930 and 1938 and the league title in 1931-32, 1932-33, 1933-34, 1934-35 and 1936-37.

4. Nottingham Forest [1977-1980]

When Brian Clough took over Nottingham Forest, very few could have anticipated the kind of run he would lead the team on. He led the team to one league title, two European Cups, UEFA Supercup and Community Shield. Forest were one of the dominant forces in European football during the late 1970s. Peter Shilton, Trevor Francis, John McGovern and John Robertson, etc were some of the best players of that team.

3. Manchester United [1995-2001]

This is the team that got Sir Alex Ferguson knighted. This era is very fondly remembered by United fans because of the dominance they had. They won 5 league titles, 2 FA Cups, and UCL in this timeframe. This included a thrilling treble in the 1998-1999 season. This United team is one of the greatest British football club sides of all time.

2. Celtic [1965-74]

When Jock Stein became Celtic’s manager in 1965, the club hadn’t won the league for 12 seasons. Stein’s led Celtic to nine league titles in a row in one of British sport’s greatest achievements. But what’s even more memorable is that Stein guided Celtic to the European Cup in 1967. Celtic became the first British club to win the title. Surprisingly enough, all Celtic players were born within 20 miles of Glasgow.

1. Liverpool [1975-84]

In 1974, Bill Shankly retired as Liverpool’s manager and Bob Paisley was appointed as successor. In the first season, Liverpool finished runners-up in the league. But what followed changed Liverpool for good. Over the next eight seasons, the Kops won the league title seven times, along with four European Cups and four League Cups. In the process, they created England’s first genuine football dynasty.
