10 Greatest Rangers FC Strikers Ever
3. Derek Johnstone
Derek Johnstone is without question one of the finest and most versatile players ever to pull on a Rangers jersey. During his time at Ibrox, he played in defence, midfield and attack, but it was a striker that he was mostly played. He made his debut with Rangers at the age of 16 in 1970.
Derek Johnstone made 546 appearances for the Glasgow Rangers, scoring 210 goals, while playing there for almost 14 years. He won 14 trophies with the club. He was also a part of the team that won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972.
2. Jimmy Smith
One of the greatest Rangers FC strikers ever, Jimmy Smith scored 249 goals for the club in 259 official games. Smith’s powerful physical presence always posed problems for defenders and allowed him to find the net with pleasing regularity.
Jimmy won nine league championship medals(including wartime titles) and collected a hat trick of Scottish cup medals with Rangers. He also scored over 100 unofficial goals during the war-time.
1. Ally McCoist
Ally McCoist will be remembered as the club’s greatest-ever goalscorer courtesy of the 355 goals he scored in 581 games. He achieved an array of honours, including 10 league championship medals.
However, his crowning achievement was winning the European Golden Boot award in both 1992 and 1993, becoming the first-ever Scot to do so. He is probably the greatest Rangers player ever.
