Oliver Kahn is widely regarded as one of the most intimidating goalkeepers in the history of the game. Kahn is most remembered for his time at Bayern Munich where he won 22 trophies.

Kahn also won the European Championships in 1996 with Germany. His peak came in the early 2000s as he finished third in the Ballon d’Or rankings in both 2001 and 2002 while also winning the Golden Ball at the 2002 World Cup. All of which are astounding feats for a shot-stopper.

6) Peter Schmeichel

Continuing the theme of intimidating goalkeepers, Peter Schmeichel is widely considered the best goalkeeper in Premier League history.

The Danish goalkeeper played for Manchester United between 1991 and 1999. Schmeichel was a vital cog in the treble-winning United team of 1999.

Schmeichel was also part of the famous Danish team that won the Euros in 1992. He is, without a doubt, one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.

5) Dino Zoff

Before Gigi Buffon, it was Dino Zoff. The Italian Goalkeeper who played for Juventus and Napoli is one of the best goalkeepers of all time.

Dino was successful in both International and Club football. He won the World Cup and the European Championships with Italy as well as winning 9 trophies with Juventus.

Dino didn’t concede a goal in half the games, as he retired with 360 clean sheets in 720 games. His most ridiculous record though is the fact that he went 20 months without conceding a goal; between September 1972 and June 1974. Unbelievable!

4) Iker Casillas

There is not a single collective accolade that Iker Casillas did not achieve in his illustrious career. The Spanish goalkeeper had a phenomenal career with both Spain and Real Madrid.

3 European Cups, 5 League Titles, 2 European Championships, and a World Cup. You name it. He has won it.

That’s all without mentioning his ability. Iker was one of the greatest shot-stoppers of his generation. He also produced a heroic performance in the final of the 2010 World Cup.
