Uruguay also has a huge football fan following and their people are very passionate about football. The biggest match that takes place in Uruguay, without a doubt, would be the Uruguayan Clásico played between Club Nacional de Football and Club Atlético Peñarol.

It is another great rivalry with clubs from the same city. Both of these clubs were originated in Montevideo. Peñarol was originally fabricated by British immigrants from the Central Uruguay Railway Company of Montevideo. While Club Nacional have traditionally consisted of just native players, and it is the reason from what the rivalry between the two clubs began in the first place.

The match played between them is called the Derby Paulista and it is a very old and historical rivalry between two of the oldest football clubs still active in the city of São Paulo. It is also ranked among the very best derbies in the world.

The Brazilians have crazy love for the beautiful game and they support and love their teams beyond everything and when these two teams of the same city meet in Derby Paulista, it is a spectacle to watch. Corinthians lead the all-time derby record by just one more win with 107 wins as compared to Palmeiras’ 106 wins.

Superclásico, the match played between Boca Juniors and River Plate is without a doubt among the biggest rivalries in the sports world. It is the most famous match played in South America. It’s a match that the locals there live and breathe for. The Argentine people are die hard fans of football and they wait impatiently for this match and comes the D day they are louder than any other fanbase in the world. Fireworks, flags, and lively songs sung by passionate fans make this derby a special one it is.

What makes a rivalry a really fierce one is if the clubs are from the same city. Inter-city derbies create more tension between clubs than any other rivalry. The city of Buenos Aires stands still and the whole world watches anxiously when the time comes for local rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate to face off. 320 Superclásicos have been played between the two teams.
