10 Best Leeds United Signings Under Marcelo Bielsa Ranked

3. Patrick Bamford

Leeds signed Bamford in the summer of 2018 from Middlesbrough for a fee in the region of £9m. It was a big price tag at the time. Naturally, with the price tag, the expectations from the fans carried a lot of weight on his shoulder. He benefited greatly from Bielsa’s faith in him during a couple of lean spells during the promotion campaign. However, his Premier League form has more than paid back his head coach’s faith. Bamford has spent the last season silencing doubters with his goal return of 17 Premier League strikes.

2. Ben White

Ben White only spent one season at Leeds, on loan from Brighton, but this impact was undeniable. He played every minute of all 46 Championship matches in the 2019-20 season. He was a stalwart at the back for Leeds due to his efficient defending and superb ability on the ball. Following the conclusion of his loan, White won the Leeds Young Player of the Season award and the Yorkshire Evening Post award for Player of the season for 2019–20. Leeds made three bids to sign him on a permanent basis but Brighton rejected them.

1. Raphina

Signed by Leeds in October 2020, Raphina has certainly made a massive impact. The Brazilian shone during his debut campaign in English football as he netted six goals and provided nine assists. This form for the Yorkshire club earned him his first Brazilian cap as well. He is one of the most exciting players to turn out at Elland Road in the last couple of decades. The £17million that the club paid Rennes already looks like something of a bargain.
