Bellamy joined Rafael Benitez’s Liverpool from Blackburn Rovers for £6 million in 2006, moving to the Hammers for £7.5 million just one year later.

The Welsh forward spent one-and-a-half seasons at West Ham between 2007 and 2009 before enjoying spells with Manchester City and Cardiff City. In August 2011, he rejoined Liverpool. He made 79 appearances for the Reds in total, scoring 18 goals.

5. Glen Johnson

Johnson began his career at West Ham United in 2002. He was sold to Chelsea shortly after the club were relegated in 2003. From there he joined Portsmouth before moving to Liverpool for £18 million in 2009.

He spent six years at Anfield, primarily as a starter. He played 200 times for the club and scored nine times. His form dropped during the latter part of his Liverpool career, but he is still one of the best players who played for both Liverpool and West Ham.

When it comes to unsung players, Yossi Benayoun was most certainly one of them. Israel midfielder Yossi Benayoun made his initial foray into English football with newly-promoted West Ham in 2005 and helped the Hammers reach the FA Cup final – where they lost on penalties to Liverpool.

The Israeli was an intelligent footballer, and his creativity and eye for goal made him a key man in Liverpool’s near title-winning 2008/09 campaign. He also loved a hat-trick, scoring three of them.
