6. Manfred Burgsmuller [1976-1983]

Manfred Burgsmuller is the club’s record goalscorer in the Bundesliga. He bagged an impressive 135 goals from 224 league appearances during his seven-year career with BVB, that too playing as a midfielder.
Burgsmüller never managed to win a major honour whilst playing for BVB, but his goal tally cements his place in the club’s history books. Overall, he scored 158 goals in just 251 games during his time with the club.
5. Roman Weidenfeller [2002-2018]

A modern-day BVB legend, Roman Weidenfeller was trusted to be the number one goalkeeper of Dortmund from 2003 to 2018 replacing Jens Lehmann. Weidenfeller appeared in over 400 official matches with Borussia Dortmund.
During his period at this club, Weidenfeller won two league titles and one DFB Pokal trophy. Not only known for his goalkeeping ability, Weidenfeller also has very good leadership skills so he was given a position as the vice-captain of Dortmund. He left the club in 2018.
4. Alfred Preissler [1946-1950][1951-1959]

Alfred Preißler is Borussia Dortmund’s all-time top scorer, having scored 174 goals in the yellow jersey. His name is synonymous with the club’s first golden generation, which led to two successive German Championship titles in 1956 and 1957.
He was part of a famous attacking trio with Alfred Kebassa and Alfred Niepieklo affectionately named ‘The Alfredos’, who helped BVB to the titles.
