The previous transfer window somewhat felt bittersweet for Manchester City with Aguero leaving but the arrival of Jack Grealish satisfied City fans. Manchester City have recently had some difficulty in finishing a lot of chances. This might have something to do with the departure of Aguero. What the Manchester City team currently needs is a world-class striker who can convert all the chances into goals.
Other than a striker, Man City can also use some midfielders or even a good solid defender. With the big money budget that Manchester City have and the way they have been playing and winning titles for the last few years, there would be very few players who would say no to the Sky Blues. So, let’s take a look at the players that Manchester City could sign in the January transfer window.
6. Dusan Vlahovic
According to various sources, Man City are in the race to sign the Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic. He has been exceptional for Fiorentina in Serie A this season. The Serbian has 6 goals in 10 games for his country and 13 goals in 15 games for his club in this season so far and that is in a league which is known around the world to be hard to score goals in.
He could do wonders with a team as good as Man City. He was the Serie A Best Young Player last season. With a price tag of £68 million, many clubs are in the race to sign the young starlet with Tottenham seemingly leading the race. He could prove to be a decent alternative in case City are not able to sign any of the heavy-weight players like Lewandowski, Haaland or Kane.
5. Frenkie de Jong
Recent reports from a Spanish media outlet said that Pep Guardiola wants to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and is ready to throw in Raheem Sterling along with some cash in the deal. The Dutch international is a quality and stylish midfielder, which is exactly the type Pep Guardiola likes to have in his team.
He is a type of player that would very perfectly fit in with the Manchester City team, as he has been playing under Cruyff’s philosophy literally all his life. Barcelona facing financial issues would definitely help with his transfer to Man City but we don’t know how viable would be the transfer until the end of the January transfer window.
4. Theo Hernandez
Theo Hernandez is a player who has proved himself to be an excellent left-back for his club. He has good experience playing for big clubs like Real Madrid and AC Milan. The French international is a very talented player with excellent pace and also good finishing ability. He had 14 goals and 12 assists in his first two seasons with the Rossoneri, which is pretty good for a defender. He has been very solid for AC Milan both defensively and shows promise going forward.
Some other clubs have also shown interest in Theo Hernandez including PSG. Man City has been following the player for some time and it is possible that they could sign him this coming January. Although, City are not really looking to strengthen their defence as they already have a very good defensive record this season, they would still like to sign such a good all-around player who could help out the attack too.
