Celtic v Rangers : 10 Best Old Firm Derbies Ever
3. Celtic 0-3 Rangers [May 1999]
Rangers clinched the title at Parkhead for the first time ever, winning back the SPL trophy they’d relinquished the season before after winning it nine times in a row.
Neil McCann bagged a brace as the Gers also recorded a 100th league win over their rivals from Glasgow’s Eastend. Sadly, the game was marred when referee Hugh Dallas was hit on the head by a coin thrown from the crowd. Dick Advocaat’s team went on to rub salt into Celtic wounds with a 1-0 Scottish Cup final win over the Hoops that sealed a treble of trophies in the Dutchman’s first season.
2. Celtic 7-1 Rangers [October 1957]
Celtic enjoyed their biggest-ever win over Rangers in the 1957 League Cup final. Rangers were champions but didn’t play like it as the Hoops ran riot on a memorably sunny day at Hampden Park. It was only 2-0 at half-time, but “By the time we came out for the second half we had sensed that something was on,” said Celtic’s Bobby Collins.
1. Celtic 3-3 Rangers [November 1995]
This classic match comes from November 1995, with Rangers and Celtic playing out a dramatic 3-3 draw at Ibrox.
The Hoops took the lead with a superb drive from Andy Thom but the Rangers equalised through Brian Laudrup before the break.
A penalty from John Collins restored Celtic’s advantage but an Ally McCoist header and an own goal turned things in favour of the home side. The drama wasn’t over though, as Pierre van Hooijdonk replied almost immediately with a header to tie the scores.
