Quite ironically, it’s Arsenal who’s at the 4th place. They were runners-up in the Premier League last season, despite being comfortably ahead of Manchester City at one time. Even this season, they were leading the table once but are currently in fourth place. Having said that, they are very much in contention for the Premier League title race.

Liverpool finished the last season in fifth place, which was mainly due to the poor start they made to the 2022-23 season. They finished the season strongly and have started this new season strongly as well. They are currently on top of the Premier League table for 2023-24, at the end of the year 2023.

In second place, it’s Unai Emery’s Aston Villa. He took over Stevan Gerrard in 2022 when the club was struggling and managed to guide them to a top-seven finish. A season that started horrendously ended with Villa qualifying for the UEFA Conference League. They are currently in second place this season, only second to Liverpool on goal difference at the end of the year 2023.

The fact that Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering Manchester City team are top of the table for the year 2023, should come as no surprise. They have been leading every other team in the English Premier League since the beginning of the year. The treble winners overcame Arsenal in the title race by putting up a consistent performance in the second half of 2022–2023. They are currently in third place in the PL table at the end of the year.
