5. Gunnar Nordahl
AC Milan’s highest goalscorer, Gunnar Nordahl scored 225 goals in 291 matches. He was a highly prolific, powerful, and physically strong striker, with an eye for goal. He was a five-time Serie A top scorer and holds the record for most goals in a single league season with 35. This Swedish player is for sure one of the greatest AC Milan players ever.
4. Marco Van Basten
Greatest striker in the history of the club and arguably the greatest in the history of Serie A, Marco Van Basten won 3 Ballon d’Or and was voted as AC Milan’s best striker of the 20th century.
Unfortunately, injuries really troubled him, otherwise, he could have achieved much more. He scored 125 goals in 198 matches which is an amazing statistic for someone who had a lot of troubles with injuries. Just imagine what would he do if he didn’t have all those injuries.
3. Gianni Rivera
The first Italian ever to win the Golden Ball award, Gianni Rivera was only 17 years old when in 1960 he started playing in Milan jersey.
Rivera was a creative midfielder that could score. With the Rossoneri, he continued showing the good qualities he had displayed in the previous two years with Alessandria. It’s the start of a golden age for Milan that with the ‘Golden Boy’ lifted his first European Champion Clubs’ Cup trophy one year later. After winning everything, he finished with the Scudetto that was also the tenth title for the club.
He scored 163 goals in 650 matches in an AC Milan shirt. He played for the club between 1960-1979 and is regarded as one of the greatest AC Milan players ever.
