6 Players That Tottenham Hotspur Could Sign In January
With the change in management for Tottenham Hotspurs, it seems like the time to make some positive changes to the squad so that Antonio Conte can get the best out of the team. The club is reportedly looking for some big names as well as some young talented individuals to bring in the team and they seem to have the budget to spend for it in the upcoming January transfer window.
Spurs are planning to let go a number of players which would very much increase the need to sign new players to rejuvenate the squad and it would also help binging in the money to make those transfers. 6. Franck Kessie
Franck Kessie has been the target of Spurs since this summer. The talented young midfielder can help the team with his creativity, which they have been lacking very much recently. Spurs have brought a number of midfielders in the past few seasons to the team but haven’t really found what they were looking for.
Some would say that they haven’t yet been able to replace Christian Eriksen and Kessie has a style very similar to Eriksen. The Ivoirian is in the last year of his contract with AC Milan and does not plan to renew his contract. He reportedly has a price tag of £49.5 million. Rather than spending a lot of money on a striker or a defender, the club could consider signing a classy midfielder like him who could help in defence as well as the attack.
5. Stefan De Vrij
The Dutch defender De Vrij is heavily tipped to follow his ex-boss to Tottenham. Conte has won the Serie A with De Vrij as his regular starter and his addition to the squad would mean a more Conte philosophy team. He is a very experienced centre back who is known to make tough tackles and is very competitive, mentally and physically strong and hard to get past.
De Vrij is also very good on the ball. He has been linked to a few other teams as well team but Spurs have been leading the race to land him in the January transfer window. Inter has decided not to renew De Virj’s contract which means that there is a huge chance that we see him in different colours next year. His contract ends in 2023 and his value ranges somewhat around £40 million.
4. Marcelo Brozovic
Conte’s former team player Marcelo Brozovic is the next player linked to Tottenham. Spurs have reportedly made a €40 million bid for him but Inter appears to demand more for the defensive midfielder. Brozovic is a classy player with good playmaking qualities, he is very good with the ball at his feet. He has a very calming influence at the back that allows the attackers to go forward easily. Defensively he has excellent positioning and knows how to properly defend, he acts like a bridge between the attack and the defence.
He could be a very vital player for Spurs with his playing style and can strengthen their midfield. The manager knows him very well and he knows the gaffer extremely well too. This could help him in adjusting to life in England.
