Euro 2016 Final Preview:Fance vs Portugal

Portugal will be facing France in the final of the Euro 2016  on saturday night, France will be aiming to win a European Championship on home soil for the second time.

France were twice the European Champions – in 1984 they hosted and 2000 co-hosted by Belgium and Netherlands. They were also the hosts when they won their only FIFA World Cup title in 1998.

Cristiano Ronaldo will look to win his first trophy with his national side,having lost in the final in 2004.

Portugal have lost their last 10 games against France, who in Antoine Griezmann boast the competition’s top scorer with six goals, but midfielder Joao Mario believes they can spring a surprise at the Stade de France.

 ”We have lost a final already but this time we can make it. Probability counts for nothing and all the Portuguese bet on us.”

Fernando Santos is hopeful on the fitness of Pepe, who missed the semifinal clash against Wales. There are no others players missing through injury or suspension and Santos is expected to field a similar line-up he used in the semifinal.

Portugal: Predicted line up (4-4-2)

Rui Patricio – Guerreiro, Pepe, Fonte, Soares – Mario, Sanches, Danilo, Silva – Nani, Ronaldo.

France: Team News

Deschamps’ French national team has a clean bill of health and changes are hardly expected after a solid display against Germany in the semifinals.

He is likely to field a 4-2-3-1 formation with Griezmann in the number 10 role with Payet and Sissoko in support.

France: Predicted Line-up (4-2-3-1)

Lloris – Sagna, Umtiti, Kolscielny, Evra – Matuidi, Pogba – Sissoko, Payet, Greizmann – Giroud.

Players to watch out for-

Portugal-

Cristiano Ronaldo –  On his day this guy can single-handedly win the match for Portugal,French defenders will need to keep an eye on him.

Renato Sanches – This 18-year-old Renato Sanches has been one of the rising stars of the tournament,this new Bayern Munich signing will look to do something similar in the final.

Antoine Griezmann- Argubly the player of the tournament so far,Griezmann has scores 6 goals in the tournament so far and we won’t be surprised if he adds a few more to his tally in the final.

Paul Pogba- Pogba haven’t lived upto his mark in this tournament,but a player of his class posses the potenial to producing something wonderful in the final.
