Chennai Super Kings Team Profile : IPL 2019
Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings will start their IPL 2019 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 23rd March at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK are the record winners of the IPL titles along with Mumbai Indians, with three titles each. Chennai have retained most of their key players from last season and only signed two new players during the auction. Mohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad are the latest addition to the team.
Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, CSK will once again be expected to do well. Let us have a look at some of the key players for CSK this season.
Key Batsmen
Suresh Raina – Highest scorer of the IPL, Suresh Raina will once again be the man to watch-out for CSK. He will also try to prove some points to the Indian selectors as he tries to tussle his way back into the Indian team.
MS Dhoni – Captain cool seems to have found his rhythm back since the start of the year after a below-par last year. He will also be a big asset to the CSK battling lineup in the lower middle-order.
Kedar Jadhav – Now a regular in the Indian team, Jadhav adds formidability to the middle order as well as couple over of spin bowling makes him an ideal player in the lineup.
Faf du Plessis – The SA captain has the experience of playing on Indian soil and his attributes could be very useful for CSK.
Ambati Rayadu – Rayadu has the temperament to build an innings and that could be very useful in case of an early collapse.
Key All-Rounders
Shane Watson – The 37-year old Aussie is once again gonna be a huge addition at the top of the order. He may not bowl as regularly as he used to bowl in his early days but you can still expect him to bowl an over or two in tight situations.
Dwayne Bravo – Bravo has the experience of playing different T20 leagues around the world and MS Dhoni will try to use it as much as possible.
Ravindra Jadeja – Jadeja has been a part of the CSK team for long time now. His slow left-arm orthodox spin could be very useful on some of the Indian wickets.
Key Bowlers
Lungi Ngidi – The right-arm fast South African bowler will lead the bowling attack for CSK in this IPL. His pacey, swinging deliveries could cause some problems for the opposition.
Imran Tahir – Imran Tahir will look to play an important role in containing the batsmen from scoring very fastly and picking up wickets in the process. His experience along with the trickery could play a huge part.
