We see certain players as icons—representative of the ambition, hopes and aspirations of the club they play for.But there are some footballers who became villian for their fans by leaving them in order to join a rival club.Today we present you a list of ‘Biggest Football Traitors Ever’.

10.Cesc Fabregas

Fabregas left for Barcelona in 2011, the hearts of Arsenal fans everywhere were crushed. He was the captain, and considered to be the long-term future of the team. Most forgave him based solely on the fact that Barcelona was his boyhood club . All that goodwill was permanently undone when he joined Arsenal’s bitter cross-town rivals Chelsea. Arsenal reportedly turned him down when he came knocking because they had a glut of talent in attacking midfield, but Arsenal fans will never be able to forgive him for going to José Mourihno’s Chelsea when he practically had his pick of any top club in the world.

9.Carlos Tevez

The Argentinian forward was winning trophies with Manchester United, but then the big money came knocking on his door.

Arch-rivals Manchester City came and met the £25m price-tag which the Red Devils had put on Tevez and the striker was quick to switch from red to sky blue.

Once playing for Chelsea, Gallas was used in a deal to bring Ashley Cole to Stamford Bridge and so he went to north London and joined Arsenal in this transfer.

Later on, when he wanted too much money, which Arsenal couldn’t afford to pay him, the Frenchman decided it would be a good move to join fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

7.Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney grew up supporting Everton and lived near the club for his entire childhood.After scoring in the final of the FA Youth Cup, Rooney revealed a shirt that said “Once a Blue, Always A Blue” to emphasize his dedication to the club.

A few weeks later he was a Manchester United player – kissing the United crest in front of Everton fans after scoring against them,put him in the list of Biggest Football Traitors Ever.

It is said that loyalty and Ibrahimovic are antonym.While playing for Juventus, Ibra won two league titles with the Bianconeri, but once Juve were stripped of their two Scudetti, the Sweden international and his agent threaten to pursue legal action to get himself out of the contract with the Bianconeri.

Once he was free to leave, the big forward decided to join one of Juventus’ biggest rivals – Inter Milan.

Yet this wasn’t enough and when he decided to move on from Barcelona Ibra went to play for AC Milan.He is one of the high profile ‘Biggest Football Traitors Ever’.

After spending 8 seasons at Arsenal, he transferred to rival club Manchester United in the summer of 2012. When asked for his reasons, he referred to listening to “the little boy inside me. On his return to Barcelona for a game the crowd pelted him with all sorts, including a pig’s head head, and burnt shirts in the stands.It was a easy decision to put him on top in the list of ‘Biggest Football Traitors Ever’.

Three years later, he decided to return to Blaugrana, but the fans’ favourite was now low in their eyes.
