Although the women’s game has only really been prominent since the early 90s , it has seen its share of jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring moments. There has been some really great players and today we will have a look at some of the greatest female footballers ever.

12. Hope Solo (USA)
Hope Solo combined excellent positioning and quick reflexes to become the first woman to recorded 100 international shutouts. She has helped the USA to the 2008 and 2012 Olympic titles as well as the World Cup in 2015. She was the goalkeeper for the United States women’s national soccer team from 2000 through August 2016.
11. Kristine Lilly (USA)
Kristine Lilly first made her debut for the United States women’s team in 1987, when she was still in high school and kepr playing until November 2010. She played in a world record 352 internationals, a mark that may never be broken, scoring 130 goals as well. She played on two world champion sides (1991, 1999) and has two Olympic gold medals and a silver in her collection.
10. Christine Sinclair (Canada)
Captain of the Canadian national team, Sinclair plays professionally for the Portland Thorns FC in the National Women’s Soccer League. Sinclair is Canada’s all-time leading scorer and currently is second worldwide in all-time international goals scored (172), behind only Abby Wambach (184). Having played over 15 years with the senior national team, Sinclair has played in four FIFA Women’s World Cups. She has been shortlisted for FIFA World Player of the Year seven times, in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2016.
9. Nadine Angerer (Germany)
Angerer is without a shadow of a doubt the greatest female goalkeeper of all-time, and the only goalkeeper to have been named as FIFA World Player of the Year. Germany won the UEFA Women’s Championship on each of the five occasions Angerer was involved and won the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2003 and 2007. Their best finish at the Olympics was third in 2000, 2004 and 2008.

Carli Lloyd is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, 2015 FIFA Player of the Year and 2016 FIFA Player of the Year.
